A septarian egg is a septarian nodule that has been carved and polished into an egg shape, often called a Dragon EggThese nodules formed millions of years ago from balls of mud and organic matter that dried and cracked, with the internal cracks then filling with minerals like calcite and aragonite, creating a distinctive, patterned interior. The smooth, polished exterior and the intricate, crystallized patterns inside give them their unique "dragon-skin" appearance and make them popular decorative and collectible items.

Formation
  1. Nucleus:
The formation process begins around a nucleus, such as a fossil or a clump of clay, in an ancient marine environment.

  2. Sedimentation:
Sediment accumulates around the nucleus, forming a ball of mud or clay.

  3. Drying and Cracking:
As the ocean receded, these mud balls dried and shrank, causing cracks to form within them.

  4. Mineralization:
Over millions of years, mineral-rich fluids seeped into these cracks, depositing minerals like calcite (yellow) and aragonite (brown), filling the voids and sometimes forming beautiful crystals.
