In vedas, she id depicted as goddess of wealth and fortune, power and beauty. Show was born out of ocean of milk at the time of its churning. She being the consort of VISHNU, is born as his spouse whenever he incarnates. Lakshmi is described as enchantingly beautiful. She is always seen standing on a lotus and holding lotus in each of her two hands.
